Jimmy was the son of Irwin and Catherine Boulware Wiseman who raised him on the family farm west of Etter. He farmed the family land and sold it when he retired. He was also very generous and contributed to many causes including: World War I and World War II, the Korean Conflict, St. Jude Children's Hospital, Window on the Plains Museum of Dumas, and other charities. Farming was Jimmy's passion and he enjoyed hunting and anything western. His office and his house were evidence of his love of western art. Jimmy did not have any hunting trophies in his home but gifted his deer trophy to his brother-in-law. Jimmy and Joyce loved to travel. Destinations included Hawaii, Cancun, and the Panama Canal. He was an avid '31' card game enthusiast. Dominoes was his favorite game. Jimmy's wife, Joyce, said he was always helping people.
