Jean McCloud, 91 of Sunray, passed away on Monday, August 8, 2022. Funeral services will be held at 10 o'clock in the morning on Thursday, August 11, 2022, at Sunray Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Lane Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Beeson ~ Morrison Funeral Directors. Mrs. McCloud will be available for viewing on Wednesday from 1 o'clock until 8 o'clock in the evening at Morrison Memorial Chapel in Sunray.
Jean was born on July 31, 1931 in Electra, TX to James and Mattie Robinson. She was raised outside Electra in Beaver Creek Community and attended school there in a one room schoolhouse. She married F.H. (Junior) McCloud on December 27, 1953 in Wichita Falls, the couple moved to Sunray in 1953 where they made their home. Jean was active for many years in Tops Club, 20th Century Study Club, Senior Citizens, Omega Zeta Sorority, Baptist WMU and VFW Women’s Auxiliary. She has been a member of the Sunray Baptist Church for 68 years, since March of 1954 where she also taught 3-4 years old Sunday School for 40 years. Jean helped with ESL classes to teach people English. She had no car when the kids were little but still found a way by driving the cattle truck to church, she was very resilient.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, daughter Linda Robins and one great grandchild.
Jean is survived by her daughters: Mattie Roof and husband Jeff of Amarillo, TX and Helen Lewis husband Martin of Guymon, OK; son: Mike McCloud of Dumas, TX; grandchildren: Renea Krtalic and husband Vedran of Amarillo, TX, Stacy Black and husband Branden of Amarillo, TX, Myra Petrofski and husband George of Alabama, Brian Lewis and wife Marybel of Liberal, KS, Ibbie Jeter and husband Kyle of Amarillo, TX, Jeniffer Robins, David Robins both of Dumas, TX; 8 great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Memorial Home Health and Hospice nurses Caleb, Jennifer, Katie, Patsy, Brenda and Anna. They would also like to thank the caregivers Elaine, Kari, Angie, Josie, Hope and especially Mike who made it possible for her to be at home. Meals on Wheels were a blessing as well.
