Jean Jacobs Venhaus, 80 of Dumas, passed away on Tuesday, January 15, 2019. The funeral service will be conducted at 11 o'clock in the morning on Friday, January 18, 2019 at Morrison Memorial Chapel with Pastor Seth Seale of Bible Baptist Church in Sunray, officiating. Interment will follow in the Dumas Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 o'clock until 7 o'clock in the evening on Thursday at the funeral home. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors.
Jean was born on June 29, 1938 in Oklahoma City, OK to John and Pauline Jacobs. The family moved frequently in her younger years and eventually moved to Dumas in 1955 at which time Jean proclaimed she was never leaving Dumas. She married Cecil Venhaus in June of 1957 in Dumas where the couple would raise their family and make their home. Jean worked at the Moore County Hospital for a while, owned her own dress shop and even worked at the Piggly Wiggly where she enjoyed being able to visit with people. Jean and Cecil loved to travel in the RV and camp. She also enjoyed crafts and going to craft shows.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents, husband Cecil in 2010, granddaughter Saige Venhaus and 5 brothers and sisters.
Jean is survived by her daughter: Deborah Miller and husband Roger of Pampa; son: Tommy Venhaus and wife Jackie of Jackson, Michigan; grandchildren: Melissa Miller, Brittany Curbo and husband Wyatt, Lindsey Rodriguez and husband Michael, Sean Venhaus, Chapin Venhaus and Reagan Venhaus; great grandchildren: Destiny Miller, Treyton Miller and Emerson Venhaus; great great grandchildren: Nova and Niya Miller.
