Jeffrey Stuart Pronger, 65, passed away at his home on Pronger Ranch in Stratford on April 1, 2023. Services will be held at First United Methodist Church in Stratford, Friday, April 7, at 1 o’clock in the afternoon. Interment will follow in the Stratford Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6 o’clock to 8 o’clock in the evening at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Beeson ~ Morrison Funeral Directors.
Jeff was born January 22, 1958, to Alfred Edward Pronger, Jr. and Jimmie Herring Pronger. He graduated from Stratford High School attended West Texas State University and graduated with a BS in Ag Business from Oklahoma Panhandle State University.
He was active in 4-H winning Grand Champion Steer at the County Stock Show, Boy Scouts, SHS Band, FFA and the high school rodeo team. Jeff was an Eagle Scout. In college he was on the rodeo team both at West Texas and Panhandle State Universities.
Jeff lived his life on Pronger Brothers Ranch in Stratford beside a few years spent ranching in Kansas. He loved his Hereford cattle; he was a rancher and a cowboy. He also worked at some area sale barns and helped others working cattle. Jeff was blessed with an inherent gift of being able to make people laugh. He had many friends and loved to tell stories especially about his rodeo days.
Jeff is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Alfred Edward Pronger, III (Fred) and nephew, Blaine Killian.
Survivors include sisters Jana Pronger and Jill Killian(Dr John) of Stratford and brother David Pronger(Karen) of Burleson. Also sister-in-law Marsha Pronger of Stratford. Nieces include Janell Miller(Jason) and children Landry and Sidney; Katie Panter(Will); and Caroline Kroll(Ethan) and son Ryland; Nephews include Patrick Pronger(Sarah) and sons Rance and Grady; Kavan Killian(Sara); Brent Pronger; and Bryce O’Malley Killian.
