Jerry Collier, 69 of Dumas, passed away on Wednesday, May 30, 2012. Memorial services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. on Friday, June 1, 2012, at Morrison Memorial Chapel in Dumas, with Doug Loman officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors.
Jerry was born on January 22, 1943 in Inglewood, California to W.A. and Dorothy Stewart Collier. He was brought back to Texas at a very young age where he lived the remainder of his life. Jerry was a graduate of Dumas High School. He worked for Diamond ShamrockMaxus for twentyeight years, retiring as Field Superintendent. Jerry was united in marriage to Betty Neill Loman on January 6, 1987 in Clayton, New Mexico. He loved and cared for his family, and especially enjoyed his backyard garden.
He was preceded in death by his father, W.A. Collier, and his beloved little dog, Tiny.
Jerry leaves behind his mother, Dorothy Collier of Dumas his wife of twentyfive years, Betty of the home one brother, John Collier of Dumas one sister, Kathy Ledbetter of Deming, NM three daughters, Tammy Collier of Amarillo, Kristie Coaly of Dalhart, and Niki Collier of Big Bear, CA and the mother of his girls, Mary Kay Gore of Dalhart. He is also survived by three step children, Doug Loman, Kathy Lee, and Brenda Emmert, all of Sunray eighteen grandchildren and twentyeight great grandchildren.
The family would like to extend special thanks to his grandson and Main Man, Tim Coaly, for all he did for Jerry, and also to Keshia Coaly, a special caregiver and garden helper.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Northwest Texas Diabetes Center, 1501 South Coulter, Amarillo, TX 79106, or to a favorite charity.
The family will be at 1208 Morton in Dumas.
