Jesslyn Kay Brazell, 78 of Dumas passed away on Friday, October 9, 2020. Funeral Services will be held at 2 oclock in the afternoon on Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at Sunray Church of Christ with Ben Merenes, officiating. Interment will follow in Dumas Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 6 oclock to 8 oclock in the evening on Monday at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Beeson ~ Morrison Funeral Directors.
Jesslyn was born on September 13, 1942 to Jesse and Loreta (Neal) Thacker in Granite, OK. At the age of 2, the family moved to Dumas where she grow up and attended Cactus Elementary School, Dumas Jr High and graduated from Dumas High School in 1961. After high school, she attended Texas Tech for 1 semester in 1961.
She married Billy Bob Bert Brazell on June 9 of 1962 at First Baptist Church in Dumas, TX. She worked at Montgomery Ward from 1962 to 1963, M & M Drug from 1964 to 1967, and Golden Spread Provision Co from 1985 to 1995. She was a member of the Pierien Study Club- All offices, Futuristic Club of Sunray- All office, 4H Leader for 10 years and Home Demonstration Club. Jesslyn was a member of the Church of Christ in Sunray, TX.
Jesslyn was preceded in death by her parents; daughter Vonda Kaye Dashman; uncle: Leon Neal; stepmother: Freda Moore Thacker; sister: Victoria Elizabeth Celeste Thacker.
Jesslyn is survived by her husband of 58 years, Billy Bob Brazell; children: Donald Scott Brazell MD and wife Lynn, MD of Longview, TX; Lora Beth Davis and husband Dave of The Colony, TX; Andrew Edward Brazell and wife Kasie of Weir, TX; Debra Marie Dice and husband Pete of Lake Jackson TX; Monica Ann Tafoya of Redding CA; and son in law Bob Dashman of Round Rock, TX; 17 grandchildren, 28 greatgrandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren; and a host of cousins and close friends.
