Jesus G. Ortiz

Jesus G. 'Jesse' Ortiz, 74 of Dumas, passed away on Saturday, October 22, 2016. Memorial services are scheduled for 2 o'clock in the afternoon on Friday, October 28, 2016 at Morrison Memorial Chapel with Rev. Jay McGaughy, pastor of Temple Baptist Church, officiating. Grady Burkhalter will be assisting. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors. Jesse was born on March 22, 1942 to R.S. and Victoria (Galvan) Ortiz. The family moved to Dumas when he was 2 years old. Jesse was a workaholic; working at Woody's Furniture where he installed carpet and at Diamond Shamrock where he eventually retired. He was also very fond of music; he loved all styles. He was of Lutheran faith. Jesse was preceded in death by his parents; three sons: Charles Hart, Victor Ortiz and Jesus G. Ortiz II; daughter Chris Dianne Hart; three brothers: Santana Ortiz, Ramon Ortiz and Johnny Ortiz. He is survived by his daughters: Lisa Staley and husband Melvin of Wichita Falls, Jessica Murray and Meredith Sutton, both of Dumas; son: Christopher Hart of Dumas; brothers: Reymundo Ortiz of Arkansas, Roger Ortiz and Joe Ortiz, both of Dumas; sister Linda Martinez of Amarillo; 9 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
