Jo Ellen Morrison, 80 formerly of Dumas, passed away on Friday, October 28, 2022. Memorial services will be held at 2 o’clock in the afternoon on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, at First Baptist Church with Jake Minton, longtime family friend, officiating. Interment will follow in Northlawn Memorial Gardens under the direction of Beeson ~ Morrison Funeral Directors.
Jo Ellen was born on March 19, 1942, in Tulsa, OK to Jesse and Alba Jean (Oldacre) Baker. She was united in marriage to Larry Morrison in 1961 and the couple would make Dumas their home where they raised their daughters. Jo Ellen kept countless photo albums of her favorite subjects, her children and grandchildren as well as scrap booking for all seven grandchildren from the time they were born. Her words, “What a fun thing that was!” She was known as the Class Reunion Guru, as she organized years of class reunions for the classes of 59, 60, & 61. Jo Ellen found pure joy in traveling by gaining insights from trips to England, Wales, Scotland, France, Cancun, Alcapulco, Bahamas, Dominican Republic, New York City, Boston, San Francisco, Yellowstone Park, Jackson Hole, Grand Canyon, Las Vegas, New Orleans, Cape Cod, Phoenix, Red Wing Minnesota, Estes Park, and Red River. But her most cherished trips were with her “Dumas Divas.” She was a member of the Dumas Education Foundation Board for 10 years, serving two terms as president, Ladies Investment Club, Ladies Golf Association, Dumas Dance Club, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, and CBS Bible Study.
Jo Ellen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Larry in 2018; granddaughter: Kelsey Jo Patterson; and great grandson: Rhett Alexander Lujan.
Jo Ellen is survived by her daughters: Melinda Patterson and husband Guy and Marlis Scofield and husband Shaun; grandchildren: Zach and wife Josey, Meisha, Josh and wife Jacque, Kaitlyn and husband Brett, Alix and husband Adam, Dreagan and wife Amanda and Channing and wife Toree, Harper and wife Kelsey and Hank and wife Anna; great grandchildren: Khamdyn, Haidynn, Hudson, Breck, Rhex, Mayer, Hatlee Kay, Banks, and Parker; sister: Sue Lyons and husband James; brother: Bruce Baker and wife Terri; along with other extended family members.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like to suggest that memorials be made to the Dumas Education Foundation.
