Joe “David” Ortiz, 64 of Dumas, passed away on Wednesday, December 15, 2021. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 o’clock in the afternoon on Tuesday, December 21, 2021, at First Baptist Church with Pastor Jesus Rivera officiating. Interment will follow in the Dumas Cemetery under the direction of Beeson ~ Morrison Funeral Directors.
David was born on March 13, 1957, in Mt. Vernon, Washington to Valdimar and Rosa (Badillo) Ortiz. David met and later married Nati Salcido on August 29, 1983, in Hereford, TX. David had worked at JBS as a supervisor in the warehouse for over 25 years and most recently worked for AG H2O as an assistant warehouse manager.
David loved the Lord and was a member of Primer Iglesia Bautista where he was the song and worship leader for over 30 years. David enjoyed football and was an avid Dallas Cowboy, Texas Longhorn, and Dumas Demon supporter. He also loved more than anything to follow his grandchildren in all their activities; he was a true family man. David will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Rudolfo and Reynaldo Ortiz.
David is survived by his wife, Nati Ortiz of the home; children: Jessica Salcido, Joe “David” Ortiz Jr. and Teresa Correa, and Isaiah Ortiz all of Dumas, TX and Melissa Cano and husband Victor of Clovis, NM; grandchildren: Destynea Martinez, Jacob Pinales, Olivia Pinales, Joey Escamilla, Emily Pinales, Jazmin Pinales, Gyzelle Cano, Natalia Ortiz, Alyssa Ortiz and Izabella Ortiz; numerous brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
