Joe Thomas DeShazo, 84 of Dumas, passed away on Friday, March 27, 2015. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 o\x92clock in the morning on Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at First Street Church with Chauncey Spencer, minister of the church, officiating. Interment will follow in Dumas Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, March 30, 2015 from 6 o\x92clock until 8 o\x92clock in the evening at First Street Church. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors.
Joe was born September 28, 1930 in Childress, Texas to Tom and Freddy Mae DeShazo. He served his country during the Korean Conflict in the US Navy from 1950 until 1954. He was proud to have had the opportunity to serve his country. He married Robbie Miller on July 23, 1952 in Childress, Texas. The couple moved to Dumas where Joe became the owner of Dumas A/C and Heating for many years. He enjoyed painting, hunting, fishing, and fixing things. He was a positive influence to many young men\x92s lives during his lifetime. He was a member of the First Street Church and a member of the Dumas Noon Lion\x92s Club for over 40 years.
Joe is survived by his wife Robbie, of the home; four sons: Mike DeShazo and wife Carolyn of Windsor CO, Ron DeShazo and wife Tracy of Dumas, TX, Allen Gann and wife Susan of Cedar Creek, TX and Flint DeShazo and wife Annette of Round Rock, TX; Ten grandchildren: Jamye and Eric Havnen with children Ryan Anderson and Tammy Havnen, Paul DeShazo with daughter MacKenzie, Kelsey DeShazo, Chad DeShazo, Riley DeShazo, Taylor DeShazo, Shawna Gann and John Nunez with children Daniel and Aubree Nunez, Katherine DeShazo, Harrison DeShazo, Kristen and Michael Thomas; sister Betty DeBey of Amarillo, TX; brother John DeShazo of Spokane, WA; sister in law Mesae DeShazo of Fairfield, CO; and numerous nieces and nephews.
