John Madison Clay

John Madison Clay, "Curly" age 90 of Dumas, Texas, passed away Monday, January 18, 2021 in Bismarck, North Dakota. John was Born March 4, 1930 in Webbers Falls, Oklahoma to Thomas Madison and Gracie Pearl Townsley Clay. He graduated from Broken Arrow, Oklahoma High School and Odessa College and attended the University of Houston. He married Patricia Ann Robertson in Tulsa, Oklahoma on July 15, 1950. He was employed by Continental Carbon Company, as Operations Manager at the Sunray Plant, for 17 years and took an early retirement in 1981 to accept a position with Wellcheck, Inc. in Lafayette, Louisiana, returning to Dumas in 1987. He retired from New Way Pork in 2008 after over twenty years service with that company. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where he was an Elder and Deacon and served on various committees of the church. Survivors include; granddaughter, Kelley Anne Risser and Husband, Nathan Risser, great-grandsons, Blake Madison Risser, Hunter Risser, of Bismarck North Dakota; daughter-in-law, Anne Ayers and husband, Josh, and children, Whitney, Austin, Tanis and Taylor, and many nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Patricia Ann Robertson Clay, his parents, siblings; Billie Mac Clay, Ruth Pagliaro, Arleta Kelley, Ruby Hudson, Josephine Robertson, Geraldine Bryan and Donald Bryan. Funeral services will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be to the First Presbyterian Church, Youth Program, P. O. Box 1118, Dumas, TX 79029.
