John J.L. Kennedy, 86, formerly of Dumas passed away on Sunday, April 3, 2011 in Paris, Texas. Services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, April 9, 2011 at Morrison Memorial Chapel in Dumas with David Bonner officiating. Interment will follow in Dumas Cemetery. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors.
J.L. was born on May 2, 1924 in Nashville, Arkansas to Robert Earl and Sallie Frances Sullivan Kennedy. J.L. graduated from Dumas High School. He married Zelma Copeland on March 14, 1943 in Dumas. They shared their life together in Dumas where he retired from the Continental Carbon Plant after 20 years. J.L. enjoyed flying, welding, riding motorcycles, radio controlled airplanes, archery and various other activities. After retirement, he and his wife enjoyed traveling around the country in their motor home. They moved to Paris, Texas in 2001.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Jerry Kennedy and his brother, Cletus Kennedy.
J.L. is survived by his wife Zelma of the home one son, Joe Kennedy of Plainview one daughter, Sallie Luttrell of Paris one sister, Earlene Menefee of Amarillo eleven grandchildren and fourteen greatgrandchildren.
