John Johnny Andrew Mason, 63 of Talihina, Oklahoma, passed away Thursday, March 1, 2012 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at Morrison Memorial Chapel in Dumas. Rev. Seth Seale, pastor of Bible Baptist Church in Sunray will be officiating. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at Lakeview Cemetery in Sugar City, Colorado. Rev. Jeb Brown, pastor of The River of Life Church in Rocky Ford, Colorado will be officiating. A flag detail will be provided by American Legion Post 8, the Rocky Ford Rifle Team, from Rocky Ford, Colorado. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Monday, March 5, 2012 at the funeral home in Dumas. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors.
Johnny was born May 29, 1948 in Rocky Ford, Colorado to Ernest and Betty Mason. He graduated from Manzanola High School in 1967. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1968 to 1970, serving two years in the Vietnam War. Johnny was a resident of Dumas, Texas for 34 years and retired from Phillips 66 refinery after 23 years. After retiring, he bought a ranch in Talihina, OK where he resided until his death. Johnny will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Betty Mason one brother, Cody Mason and one sister, Ernestine Cramer.
Johnny is survived by two daughters, Cassie Mason Coen and husband Troy of Elkhart, Kansas, and Amber Mason of Laramie, Wyoming one brother, Marlin Mason and wife Cheryl of Ordway, Colorado two sisters, Vicky Baker and husband Frank of Ordway, and Elsie Stahn and husband Denny of Lindon, Colorado and two grandchildren, Taylor and Cody Coen of Elkhart, Kansas.
