John B. McAlister

John B. McAlister, 91 of Stratford, passed away on Wednesday, October 14, 2015. A Graveside Service is scheduled for 11 0' clock in the morning on Saturday, October 17, 2015 in Stratford Cemetery with Steve Baskin, deacon at First Baptist Church, officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 o' clock in the evening on Friday at the funeral home. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors of Stratford. John was born on June 21, 1924 to Wilford H. and Trannie McAlister in Venus, TX. John honorably served his country during WW II and on August 4, 1951 he married the love of his life, Billie Jo Leonard, in Alvarado, TX. They were happily married for over 64 years. John called Stratford home since 1964 and did what he enjoyed most, being a mechanic. He loved his Model A cars, the mountains and most of all his family. He was a member of First Baptist Church and will be missed by all. He is preceded in death by his parents and eight brothers and sisters. John is survived by his wife: Billie Jo of the home; two daughters: Belinda Gail and husband Kenneth of Apache Junction, AZ and Benita Kay Keener and husband Grant of Weston, CO; one son: Roy McAlister and wife Valerie of Stratford; six grandchildren: Misty, Scott, Brant, Michael, Noel and Marcus; one great grandchild: Hannah and one sister: Patsy Jackson of Venus, TX. The family suggest memorials be to The Stratford Area Foundation.
