Johnny P Champion, 73, of Dumas, passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2018. The funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 o'clock in the morning on Friday, January 12, 2018, at Sts Peter and Paul Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Dumas Cemetery. The rosary will be recited at 6 o'clock in the evening on Thursday at Morrison Memorial Chapel. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors.
Johnny was born on January 18, 1944 in San Juan, TX to Jimmy and Juanita (Perez) Champion. He moved to Dumas where lived for the last 54 years. Johnny enjoyed farming, the outdoors and fishing. He loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Johnny was a member of the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church and will be missed by all who knew him.
Johnny was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: Jimmy, Alejandro and Cleto; one sister: Nene.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Amelia, of the home; sons: Danny Castillo and Ronnie Castillo, both of Dumas; daughters: Cecilia Guerrero and husband Jose of Dumas, Melissa Champion of Amarillo and Tammy Champion of Dumas; four grandchildren: Alex Guerrero, Aliya Castillo, Omar Castillo and Evan Sepulveda; two sisters: Aurora Sanchez and husband Pio and Janie Champion; one brother: Beto Champion.; several nieces, nephews and other extended family members.
