Katherine McDaniel

Katherine McDaniel, 90, passed away Sunday, December 28, 2008 in Dumas. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at Dumas Cemetery with Jerry Vinson, minister of Sixth Meredith Church of Christ officiating. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors. Katherine McDaniel was born July 26, 1918 in Marshall County, Oklahoma to Mr. and Mrs. W.S. McDaniel. She graduated from Kingston High School and received her Bachelor and Master degrees from Southeastern State University, Durant, Okla. She taught school for 12 years in Oklahoma before moving to Texas where she taught 31 years in the Dumas School System. She taught third grade math and science before retiring in 1985. Katherine enjoyed reading, gardening and traveling, having visited 49 of the 50 states. She was a long time member of the Sixth Meredith Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her sister Imogene Orum. Survivors include; brother, Willis McDaniel of Milwaulkie, OR; sisters, Arlene Lance of Hooksett, NH, LaDean McDaniel of Oklahoma City, LaRue Jones and husband, Royce of Stillwater; several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to Memorial Nursing Home, Activity Fund, 302 E. 2nd, Dumas, TX 79029 or to Sixth Meredith Church of Christ, 520 S. Meredith, Dumas, and TX 79029. Visitation with family and friends will be held from 11 AM to 2 PM at Morrison Funeral Directors.
