Kela Kay Kerns, 53, formerly of Dumas, passes away on Friday, November 27, 2020 in Adrian, MN. Kela will be available for viewing from 4-8 oclock in the evening on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at the funeral home. A funeral service will be held at 11 o clock in the morning on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at Morrison Memorial Chapel with Rev. Kevin Anderson, pastor of First Assembly of God Church in Stratford, officiating. Interment will follow in Dumas Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Beeson-Morrison Funeral Directors.
Kela was born in Dumas, TX on February 6, 1967 to Joel Eugene Slagle and Mollie Kay (Fritts) Tipton. She graduated from Dumas High School and began her career as a CNA. Kela was a loyal friend who seemed to not know any strangers. She carried her love of people over to animals and was a huge collector of all things animal. Kela loved baseball but her true love was the Dallas Cowboys. One of her favorite activities was going to El Rancho for their enchiladas. Kela spent the last years of her life in MN. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Kela is preceded in death by her parents, a brother: Joey Jay Slagle; a sister in law: Connie Slagle and a cousin: Tammy Sue Goldsmith.
She is survived by her son: Daniel Kerns and wife Allison of Canyon, TX; spouse: Andy Eichmann of Adrian, MN; step-father: Floyd "Bear" Tipton of Dumas; sister: Bobbye Dawn Faris of Amarillo, TX; niece: Alexis Faris of Oklahoma City, OK; nephew: Ryan Ferguson and wife Caroline of Amarillo, TX; and grandchildren: Skyler and Zakery Kerns of Canyon, TX. Kela is also survived by her very special friends: Melissa Marquez, Teresa Rangel and Amy Lursen.
