Kelly Hayes, 61 of Dumas, passed away on Tuesday, August 22, 2023. Memorial services are scheduled for 11 o'clock in the morning on Saturday, August 26, 2023 at First Christian Church with Rev. Darrell Wait, pastor of the church, officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to Beeson~Morrison Funeral Directors.
Kelly was born on March 14, 1962, in Roseville, CA to Jack and Barbara (Whitfield) Stephens. She graduated from Sierra College with her degree as a Dental Assistant. Kelly moved to Dumas where she worked for Dr. Loving and in 2005, married Darrin Hayes. She bought her own semi and began hauling grain for Harold Caraway and cattle for the Caraway’s and the Frische’s. She also raised game birds for local hunters and enjoyed cowboying, camping, and fishing. She later went to work for John Deere where she worked as the office manager and the service writer until her husband hired her to be the DOT Compliance Officer for Venable’s Construction. In her younger years, Kelly loved softball and barrel racing. Darrin and Kelly spent countless hours on their Harley Davidson’s touring the country.
She was preceded in death by her mother, brother: Craig Stephens.
Kelly is survived by her husband, Darrin, of the home; her father: Jack Stephens and wife Donna; daughter: Lindsey Ritcheson and husband Fernando of Dickinson, ND; sons: Saxon Hayes and wife Lacey of Dumas, TX, Jake Hayes and significant other Josh of Amarillo, TX; grandchildren: Madalynn Derrick, Tayton Hayes, Hanna Ritcheson, Corben Ritcheson, Irick Hayes, and Mack Hayes; sister: Vicky McIntyre of Sacramento, CA.
