Kenneth Elton Eakin, 92 of Dumas, passed away on Tuesday, March 3, 2020. Funeral Services are scheduled for 10 oclock in the morning on Monday, March 9, 2020 at Morrison Memorial Chapel with Dale Berry, officiating. A graveside service will follow at 1 oclock in the afternoon at Fairmont Cemetery in Follett, TX. Family will receive friends from 2 oclock in the afternoon to 4 oclock on Sunday at the funeral home. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors.
Kenneth was born on September 19, 1927 in Yeager, OK to Emet "Ted" and Jessie (Frye) Eakin. On April 17, 1969 he married Fern Stoughton in Canadian, TX. The couple lived in Dumas, TX where they made their home. Kenneth worked in the oilfields as a driller and later worked at the Zinc Smelter for over 10 years. He later opened his own business working in the feedyards. Kenneth also roofed and did various handyman jobs. Kenneth also loved to walk his dog every day.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife: Fern in 2009.
Kenneth is survived by his children: Jim Eakin and wife Wanda of Vernon, TX, Larry Howerton and Mary Ives and husband Jesse all of Follett, TX; sisters: Marlene Brame of Skellytown, TX and Betty Dilbeck of Heavener, OK; 2 sisters-in-law: Ruth Eakin of Lubbock, TX and Georgia Couch of Follett, TX; grandchildren: Mark Eakin and wife Kelly of Stephenville, TX, Matt Eakin and wife Kori of Chilicothe, TX, Monty Eakin and wife Brandi of Pecos, TX, Marty Eakin and wife Kassidy of Vernon, TX, Dave Howerton of Caldwell, ID, Elton Howerton and wife Shawna of Santa Clarita, CA, Chris Howerton of Houston, TX, Tracie Yarbrough and husband Glenn of Amarillo, TX, and Michuel Ives and wife Christi of Wellsboro, PA; 19 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
