Lea E. Alcantar Nelson, 53, of Guymon, OK, passed away early Wednesday March 18, 2020. A memorial service is scheduled for 10:30 in the morning on Monday, March 30, 2020 at The Victory Center in Guymon. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors of Dumas, Tx.
Lea was born October 26, 1966 in Boise City, OK to Timothy Diaz and Geneva Belle (Powers) Alcantar. She lived her life in Guymon, graduating with the class of Guymon High School in 1986. She served her home- town in several different occupations; as an apartment manager, as a jailer, and a manager at the newly constructed Guymon Casino. Lea loved her family and was especially proud of her grandchildren. She was an avid reader and her favorites ran from romance to fantasy. She always had a smile on her face and was always putting others needs ahead of her own. As a member of the Panhandle Lions Club, Lea was heavily involved in the yearly childrens Christmas shopping spree, even after leaving the club. Lea was a strong, independent spirit and was quick to let you know her opinion. Her laugh was very contagious, and she will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents: her father: Timothy Alcantar, and a brother: Jonathon Alcantar.
Lea is survived by her mother: Geneva Winters of Texhoma, TX; ex-husband: Adam Nelson of Guymon, OK; daughters: Cara Nelson of Guymon, OK, Tene and husband Dalton Imboden of Amarillo, TX, and Kelsey Shrout and Tony Catron of Guymon, OK; grandchildren: Gunnar Douglas, Knox Guthrie, Mason Guthrie, and Vivianna Catron all of Guymon, OK and Trenton Ramos and Elena Imboden of Amarillo, TX.
The family suggests with gratitude that memorial contributions be made to the Harrington Cancer Foundation, 500 South Taylor Street, Suite 223, Amarillo, TX 79101.
