Len H. Brown, 88, passed away on Saturday, July 2, 2011. Services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at Morrison Memorial Chapel in Dumas. Rev. David Carrington, will be officiating, assisted by Rev. Rodney Thomson, pastor of United Pentecostal Church in Dumas, and Rev. Steve Carrington. Interment will follow in Northlawn Memorial Gardens with a flag detail provided by American Legion Post 224 of Dumas. There will be a family visitation at Morrison Funeral Directors in Dumas from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, July 5, 2011. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors.
Len was born on April 23, 1923 in Booneville, Arkansas to Charlie and Myrtle Brown. He served his country in the US Army, serving during WWII. Len married Betty Jo Walsh on November 17, 1946 in Allison, Texas. They have shared their life together in the Dumas community since their marriage in 1946. Len was employed by Phillips Petroleum until his retirement.
Len was a member of United Pentecostal Church in Dumas. He was devoted to his church. He enjoyed playing the guitar for his family. He loved the outdoors, and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Myrtle Brown two sisters, Dorthy Ronabaugh and Syble Fish and two brothers, Reed Brown and Guy Brown.
Len is survived by his wife Betty of the home, three daughters, Sharon Horton and husband Gerald of Dumas, Peggy Rehkoph and husband Robert of Dumas, and Vickie McCuan and husband Larry of Amarillo one son, Dale Brown and wife Lori of Dumas two sisters, Opal Boydston of Allison, Texas and Billie June Brown of Clinton, Oklahoma one brother, Warren Brown of Amarillo seven grandchildren and seven greatgrandchildren.
