Leroy Roy Baril, 79 of Dumas, passed away on Tuesday, October 9, 2012, with his family by his side. In honor of the familys wishes, no formal services are scheduled at this time. Arrangements are entrusted Morrison Funeral Directors.
Roy was born on November 11, 1932 in Clark, South Dakota to Fred and Alida Christensen Baril. He honorably served his country in the US Army for two years, and went on to serve in the Army Reserves for six years after his discharge. Roy had been a resident of Dumas since 1973. He was a talented carpenter and cabinet builder, and was known as the wood surgeon. Roy was of the Catholic faith.
Roy was a devoted father, grandfather and great grandfather, who loved his family dearly. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and was a true outdoorsman. Roy was known for being creative and he had a vivid imagination. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Alida Baril two sisters, Louise Oliver and Bernice Saggerman one brother, Larry Baril two exwives and a cousin with whom he was very close, Lory Friend.
Roy leaves behind one daughter, Mary Lynn Baril and David Bain of Dumas three sisters, Lois George of Walsenburg, CO, Betty Burrow of Demming, NM and Deloris Harris of Georgia
three stepsons, Robert Hulme of Washington, and Randy Hulme and Rodney Hulme, both of Aurora, CO two sons, Michael Baril of Colorado and Daniel Baril of New Mexico one granddaughter, Nellie Rowles of Dumas one grandson, Scott Lawrence of Dumas two great granddaughters, Baylee Melton and Makayla Melton, both of Amarillo one great grandson, Dallas Rindahl of Dumas and a total of seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials be to Memorial Hospice, 224 E. 2nd, Dumas, TX 79029.
The family will be at 1501 Fox in Dumas.
