Lester C. 'Chock' Floyd, 93 of Dumas passed away on Thursday, October 18, 2018. Funeral Services are scheduled for 2 o'clock in the afternoon on Monday, October 22, 2018 at Bible Baptist Church with Johnny Widener, pastor of the church, officiating. Interment will follow at Dumas Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Sunday. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors.
Chock was born on April 6, 1925 in Durant, OK to O.R. and Ivy (Earnest) Floyd. Chock honorably served his country during WW II in the Philippines, serving as an infantryman and was awarded the purple heart for being injured in combat. He married Lawana Kruger on June 30, 1945 in Durant, the couple would move to Dumas shortly thereafter where they would raise their family and make their home. Chock had a great passion for cars which led him to open Floyd Motor Company in 1953 and operate it for the next 62 years until his retirement at the age of 90. Chock loved to spend time at the cabin at Lake Texoma with his family where they enjoyed fishing. Family was very important to Chock, he loved nothing more than getting together with his family and enjoying each other. He was also an avid fan of the Dumas Demons and the Demonettes. He was a member of the Bible Baptist Church and will be missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son: Jerry Floyd; granddaughter: Holly Floyd; brother: Vernon Floyd; sisters: Iva Lou Reeves and Sue Lanier.
Chock is survived by his wife, Lawana of the home; daughter; Linda Kay Janow and husband Jim; son: John Floyd and wife Jan all of Dumas; sister: Betty Lou Wiggington of Amarillo; brother: Orval Floyd and wife Jean of Hot Springs, AR; sister-in-law: Omega Floyd of Frederick, OK; grandchildren: James Janow and wife Jeni of McKinney, Leslie Johnson and husband Dean of Sudan, Todd Walls and wife Michelle of Amarillo, JaKayla Jeanes and husband Kevin of Amarillo, Drew Floyd and wife Megan of Creston, IA, Ryan Floyd of New Braunfels; 7 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
