Lillian Blackshear, 88, of Dumas passed away on Sunday, May 22, 2011. Services are scheduled for 3:00 P.M. on Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at Morrison Memorial Chapel in Dumas, Texas. Jonathan Zerby, pastor of Sunray Church of Christ will be officiating. Interment will be in Dumas Cemetery. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors.
Lillian was born on February 23, 1923 in Bonham, Texas to Mr. Mrs. Jessie Clyde Wash. She grew up and attended school in Leonard, Texas. Lillian was 14 years old when she married A. W. Blackshear on May 27, 1937 in Leonard. They resided there for several years and later moved to Dumas where they ran the Blackshear Nursery. Lillian lived in Dumas for almost sixty years.
During her years in Dumas, Lillian was a homemaker. Her hobbies included sewing and gardening. She was a loving and devoted housewife and mother. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. Lillian was perfect example of what a mother should be, and she will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, A.W. one daughter, Nancy Blackshear and one grandson, Ronnie Daye Blackshear.
Lillian is survived by two daughters, Shirley Bowman of Abilene, Texas and Janice Stone and husband Rickey of Dumas one son, Ronnie L. Blackshear and wife Sandee of Amarillo seven grandchildren and eleven greatgrandchildren.
