Louis Rager Jones, 69, formerly of Dumas, passed away Saturday, December 19, 2009, in Brownfield. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at Morrison Memorial Chapel with Rev. Darrell Wait, pastor of First Christian Church officiating. Burial will be in Dumas Cemetery by Morrison Funeral Directors. Louis Rager Jones was born October 7, 1940 in Amarillo, Texas to Rager and Geneva Jones. He was a graduate of Dumas High School in 1959. He attended the University of Colorado at Boulder, Texas Tech and then farmed on the family farm. Then he went back to Texas Tech and graduated in 1971 with a Bachelors degree and went on to earn a MBA and JD degree and finished in 1974. He practiced law in Dumas from 1974 to 1988. He was the assistant county attorney in Brownfield from 1988 to 1999. Louis then entered private practice in Brownfield from 2000 to 2002. On July 31, 1964 he married Jerilynn Campbell at San Saba and they celebrated their 45th anniversary this year. He loved cars, books, traveling and the mountains at Santa Fe, NM. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his father, Rager Jones in 1994. Survivors include; his wife, Jerilynn of the home; Jessica Staples and husband Gavin of Weatherford, Tx; Carl Rager Jones of Tulsa, Okla; Jennifer Appel and husband Eric of Sugarland; David Jones and wife Sandy of Temple; his mother, Geneva Jones; brothers, Wayne Jones and Gene Jones and wife, Debbie all of Dumas and grandchildren, Auburn and Sydney Staples, Lauren and Connor Appel, and Charlie, Hagan and Gentry Jones. The family suggest memorials be made to Lewy Body Dementia Assn, 912 Killian Hill Rd SW, Suite 202C, Atlanta, GA 30047 or Vista Care, 1717 Norfolk, Suite A 4th floor, Lubbock, TX 79416. The family will be at 6901 Morton Elevator Rd. and 400 Bailey in Dumas.
