Louis Ray Putman, 53, passed away Thursday, September 23, 2010. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, September 28 at Morrison Memorial Chapel with Rev. Jay McGaughy, pastor of Temple Baptist Church officiating. Flag detail will be by American Legion Post 224 of Dumas. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors . Louis Ray was born September 19, 1957 in San Jose, California to Ray and Wilma Putman. On November 8, 2007 he married Gerry Herin in Dumas. He served 15 years in the US Army. He had been a resident of Dumas most of his life. He was preceded in death by his father Ray Putman, his sister, Carol Jones and brother, Bobby Gene Putman. Survivors include his wife Gerry of the home daughters, Jennifer Cool of Dumas and Sherry Jo Carey of South Dakota stepdaughter, Ashley Dawn Herin of Amarillo his mother, Wilma Nelson of Dumas stepfather, Jerry Herin of Dumas sisters, Marilyn Hardwick and Tammy Shields of Dumas, Martha Scott of Sherman brothers, Robert J. Stewart of New York, Jimmy Don Stewart of Dumas the mother of his children, Valeri Davis of Mitchell, SD and 5 grandchildren. The family will be at 10812 Lena Lane in Dumas.
