Loyd E. Mannon 74 passed away Thursday, April 24, 2008 in Amarillo, Texas. Services will be held at 3:00 PM Monday, April 28, 2008 at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Todd Dyess, Methodist Church District Superintendent of Amarillo officiating. Burial will be in Lane Memorial Cemetery, Sunray, Texas. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors. Loyd E. Mannon was born May 20, 1933 in Scottown, Ohio. He was a construction contractor for many years in Ohio. On January 25, 1992 he married Billie Faye Schumacher in Sunray, Texas. He was a member of Dumas Masonic Lodge 1009, Sunray Lions and Moore County Hospital Auxiliary. He devoted many hours to serving people at the hospital. He was the hospital Santa Clause and helped gather stuffed toys for pediatric patients and food for the food pantry. He was best known as The Popcorn Man at the hospital. He had been a resident of Dumas and Moore County for 16 years and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Sunray. Survivors include; his wife Billie Faye of the home; daughter, Donna Ross and husband Carl of Iron, Ohio; three brothers and two sisters; step-son, Rod Schumacher of Roswell, N.M; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Moore County Health Foundation, PO Box 782, Dumas, TX 79029 or Amarillo College Foundation, PO Box 447, Amarillo, TX 79178. The family will be at 504 Robin Rd. in Dumas.
