Lucila "Lucy" Diaz

Lucila Romero Diaz, 78 of Cactus passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2024. Funeral Services are scheduled for 10 o’clock in the morning on Thursday, March 7, 2024 at Primera Iglesia Bautisa with Pastor Jessie Rivera, officiating. Interment will follow at Northlawn Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are under the direction of Beeson ~ Morrison Funeral Directors.

Lucila was born on March 1, 1946 in Laredo, TX to Casimiro and Elena (Garcia) Romero. She married Pomposo Diaz on January 8, 1978 in Chicago, IL. They moved to Dumas in 1981 where they made their home. Lucila worked for Burger King for 25 years and was known as “Mama Lucy”. Her favorite hobby was crocheting for babies. Lucila also loved farm animals like chicks and ducks. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; son: Elpidio Salgado.

Lucila is survived by her husband, Pomposo, of the home; children: Ana Maria Rodriguez and husband Silvero of Chicago, IL, Juana Luna of Arizona, Benita Lopez of San Antonio, TX, Rufino Lopez of Michigan, Rosalba Salgado of Amarillo, TX, Pomposo Diaz, Jr. and wife Isabelle Salazar of Amarillo, TX, Arturo Diaz of Amarillo, TX; 25 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
