Margie Lewis

Margie Lewis 85 passed away Monday, November 26, 2007 in Dumas, Texas. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, November 29, 2007 at North Plains Christian Church with John Green, family friend officiating. Burial will be in Dumas Cemetery under the direction of Morrison Funeral Directors. Margie was born August 5, 1922 in Lamar, Nebraska to Mary Helen and David Francis Steele. On March 21, 2002 she married Vic Lewis. She had been a resident of Dumas since 1932 and was actively involved in the community. Margie was a homemaker and a member of North Plains Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Shirley Daniels and Detta Fears; brothers, Joy Steele and Delwin Steel; son Delmar Rice; and three husbands, Robert L. Rice, John Cook and Jerry Meador. Survivors include; her husband Vic of the home; son, Bobby Rice and wife, Sally of Dumas; three sisters, Darline Berg of New Braunfels, Laverda Hughes and husband, Doyle, Rhea Hatfield and husband, T.G. all of Dumas; four step-daughters, Sonja Cerni and husband, Don, Kathline Jo Berg and husband, Phil all of Corona, Calif., Brenda Long and husband, Tommy of Stratford, Beckey Seals and husband Jerry of Florida; step-son John Bo Cook and wife Valerie; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Memorials may be made to Memorial Hospice, 224 E. 2nd, Dumas, TX 79029 or the American Cancer Society, 403 Pear, Dumas, TX 79029. The family will be at 1110 Miller in Dumas.
