Maria De Jesus Chavez, 87 of Dumas, passed away on Saturday April 2, 2022.The funeral will be on Monday April 4, 2022 at 2:00 pm at First Baptist Church in Dumas. The service will be officiated by Ben Chavez.  Burial will follow at Dumas Cemetery under the direction of Beeson ~ Morrison Funeral Directors.

Maria De Jesus Chavez was born on September 29, 1934 in Guatemala, Central America. She walked in to the presence of the Lord on April 2, 2022; surrounded by her family. 

She married Otto H. Chavez in November 1965 in Guatemala. She was a homemaker and she loved to cook for her family.  She was a member of Primera Iglesia Bautista in Dumas where she lovingly served through her cooking and through the Women’s Missionary Union for many years. In the 57 years with her husband she raised their kids and was a mother to many others who needed her.  She was a strong woman with a fervent faith and love for the Lord. 

She was preceded in death by:  Her parents, brother Guadalupe Rodriguez, daughters: Aura Rosales, Amparo Davila, Martha Chavez, and a son Carlos Chavez.

She is survived by her husband, Otto H. Chavez of the home.  Daughters: Brenda Rivera (Jesus) of Dumas, Iris McDonald (Jason) of Dumas; Sons: Jorge Israel Rodriguez (Belinda) of Dumas, TX, Alfredo Chavez (Dora) of Guatemala, Sergio H. Chavez (Rissy) of Dumas and O. Giovanni Chavez (Cande) of Santa Clara, UT.  And numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

El funeral será el Lunes 4 de abril de 2022 a las 2:00 pm en First Baptist Church en Dumas. El servicio será oficiado por Ben Chávez. El entierro seguirá en el cementerio de Dumas.

Maria De Jesus Chavez, 87 de Dumas, TX nació el 29 de septiembre de 1934 en Guatemala, América Central. Entró a la presencia del Señor el 2 de abril de 2022; rodeada de su familia.

Se casó con Otto H. Chávez en noviembre de 1965 en Guatemala. Era ama de casa y le encantaba cocinar para su familia. Fue miembro de la Primera Iglesia Bautista en Dumas, donde sirvió amorosamente a través de sus comidas y a través de la Unión Femenil durante muchos años. En los 57 años con su esposo crió a sus hijos y fue madre de muchos otros que la necesitaban. Era una mujer fuerte con una fe ferviente y amor por el Señor.

Le precedieron en muerte: Sus padres, hermano Guadalupe Rodríguez, hijas: Aura Rosales, Amparo Dávila, Martha Chavez, y un hijo Carlos Chavez.

Le sobrevive su esposo, Otto H. Chavez de la casa. Hijas: Brenda Rivera (Jesús) de Dumas, Iris McDonald (Jason) de Dumas; Hijos: Jorge Israel Rodriguez (Belinda) of Dumas, TX, Alfredo Chavez (Dora) de Guatemala, Sergio H. Chavez (Rissy) de Dumas y O.
