Marilyn Welch, better known to many as “the great gran B,” went home today to be with our heavenly father and the love of her life, Blackie Brock on her own terms and surprised the heck out of us.
She was a mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother and an aunt. She spent most of her life as a nurse taking care of others with such compassion and vast knowledge for over fifty years. Anyone that knew her knew that she didn’t sugar coat anything and would tell you exactly how it was even if it hurt feelings, she did this with love and honesty.
Mom absolutely did not want to have any memorial services as she said that if people wanted to see her, it better be while she was alive on this earth not after she passed when it wouldn’t matter to her. She was a very strong and independent woman that knew exactly what she wanted in life and always managed to get things done in her own time and way.
As she has left us with a hole in our hearts one earth, we know she is dancing in the sky with Blackie.
Marilyn is survived by her children: Rick Willadsen of Dumas, TX, Michael Willadsen of Gunnison, CO, Paula Spielbauer of Dumas, TX, Lance Willadsen of Missoula, MT; brothers: Dale Pen of Hubbard, OH, Bob Penn of Sanford, TX; grandchildren: Ashley Felty of Dallas, TX, Tiffany McGinnis and Makenzie Shafer both of Dumas, TX, Katie and Kassidy Willadsen both of Borger, TX; great grandchildren: Gage, Lyla, Hayden, Elissa, A.J. and one on the way.
The family will have a graveside memorial at a later date.
