Martha Thompson

Martha Marty Thompson, 65 of Dumas, passed away Tuesday, November 11, 2014. A Memorial Service is scheduled for 11 oclock in the morning on Thursday, November 13, 2014 at Morrison Memorial Chapel with Rev. Jay McGaughy, pastor of Temple Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors. Marty was born May 4, 1949, in Monahans, TX to James and Forestine Ivy Mecom Ripple. She had been a long time resident of Dumas and was a graduate of Dumas High School. Shortly after graduating in 1967, she left Dumas but returned in 1988. On December 28, 1998, she married Alvin Thompson he preceded her in death in 2006. Marty had worked for Phillips Petroleum from 1989 until the plant shut down, after which she was selfemployed. She worked with Alvin in the trucking industry until she retired in 2006. Marty was a member of Bible Baptist Church. She will be dearly missed by her family and many friends. In addition to her husband, Alvin, she is preceded in death by her parents. Marty is survived by her son, Zachary Thompson a sister: Helen Murphey two nephews: Tray Hermesmeyer, Denny Thompson and many dear friends.
