Martha Lynn Wells 90 of Stratford passed away on June 9, 2023. A Graveside Service is scheduled for 10 o’clock in the morning on Tuesday, June 13, 2023 at Stratford Cemetery with Brad James, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Beeson Morrison Funeral Directors.
Martha Lynn Wells was born on March 24,1933, to Mabel and RP Crabtree. After attending the Kerrick school with her brothers Lewis and Roger and sister Judy, the family moved south of Boise City in 1942. Her first year there she met her future husband Kenneth when he and brothers Jeff and Virg had their Chow dog chase Lynn up the slide. She missed her bus, the boys went home, but Lynn and the dog stayed at the slide. Lynn loved playing basketball and band in high school and going out with Kenneth. They married a year after they graduated high school in 1952. Lynn went to WT that year and rode the bus home every weekend to see Kenneth and her family of course. Their wedding was at 8:30 in the morning (Kenneth's idea). The couple moved to their home of 48 years 15 miles southwest of Kerrick. There they raised 4 kids, Paul, Jan, Mark, Jennifer, wheat, maize, and cattle. From Girl Scouts, to Bible school, she taught swimming to Kindergarteners, to CASA, to all the Kerrick community activities; she never missed a game or band concert her kids played in. She and Kenneth also loved teaching square dancing to high school students every Sunday at Kerrick. They traveled from New Mexico to Oklahoma to Kansas to square dances. Being married to Kenneth she had to learn to roll with the punches. She was never surprised with what came through the door from Paul and Jan in high school bringing home a hitchhiker girl that was getting harassed by a truck driver. Lynn wasn't really phased; she handed the girl a bowl of potatoes to peel, and we fixed supper. Then the time Kenneth brought home a family whose car broke down; she watched him get out of his 2-door pickup then a big bald guy got out, then a woman, then a little boy and girl. They came into dinner and stayed several days while Kenneth and the guy worked on the car and Lynn cooked for a family again. No big deal. They spent 70 wonderful years married to each other and 81 years in each other's lives. Lynn was pretty good at rolling with the punches and what a ride she had with Kenneth.
She is survived by husband Kenneth Wells of Stratford. Son Paul and Sandy Wells of Boise City. Daughter Jan of San Antonio, son Mark deceased, daughter Jennifer &. John Ewers of Kenton. Grandchildren Derrek Wells, Ashley Crews, Colter Wells, M'Lynn Wells, and Kristopher Tondre, great grandchildren Branson and Sutton Crews, and numerous friends, and other family members.
In lieu of flowers the family requests, with gratitude memorials be made to CASA 69.
