Chief Marvin Wayne Trejo, 58 of Dumas, passed away on Sunday, May 10, 2020. Chief Trejo will be available for viewing from 12 oclock noon until 8 oclock in the evening on Wednesday and Thursday in Morrison Memorial Chapel. A rosary will be recited at 7 oclock in the evening on Thursday, May 14, 2020 at Morrison Memorial Chapel. The graveside service will be held at 11 oclock in the morning on Friday at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Amarillo with Father Gabriel Garcia, officiating. Honor guard will be provided by Amarillo Police Department. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors.
Marvin was born on September 17, 1961 in Falfurrias, TX to George and Patricia (Romero) Trejo. He grew up in Morton, TX and graduated from Morton High School. After graduation, Marvin honorably served his country in The United States Marine Corp as an infantryman. Marvin later attended South Plains College where he attended the Police Academy. After graduation, Marvin served the Littlefield Police Department for 5 years and then moved to Dumas where he served for 25 years including the last year as Chief. Marvin loved riding his side by side and was an excellent grill master. Above all, Marvin loved being around his family, especially his grandchildren. Marvin married Lisa Escamilla on February 2, 1998 in Sunray, TX and was a member of the Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister: Delilah Gonzales; great-nephew: Brendan Trejo.
Marvin is survived by his wife, Lisa of the home; children: Renee Trejo of Amarillo, TX, David Trejo and girlfriend Delesa Perez of Plainview, TX, Katera Padilla and fianc Drew Velasquez of Amarillo, TX and Kailey Trejo and fianc Michael Ledbetter of Dumas, TX; sisters and brother: Patsy Vasquez and husband Higinio, Jr., George Trejo and wife Juliana, Brenda Carrillo and husband Anastacio all of Morton, TX, and Marleen Carrillo and husband Benito of Bledsoe, TX; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
