Mary Frances Rousser

Mary Frances Rousser, 95 of Sunray, passed away on Friday, January 17, 2025, with her family by her side. The celebration of life will be held at 2 o’clock in the afternoon on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at Sunray Baptist Church with Bruce Broxson officiating. Interment will follow in Lane Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Beeson ~ Morrison Funeral Directors.

Mary was born in Roosevelt County, NM on September 17, 1929, to John and Mattie (Malone) Chandler. She grew up in the Olton area and graduated from Olton High School in 1947. She married Winfred Rousser on January 8, 1950, in Clovis, NM and the couple moved to Sunray in 1955 where they raised their daughter and son. Mary worked at Sunray State Bank for 34 years where she served as vice president for many years and was also a partner in the Rousser-Mason Tax Service for 33 years. Mary enjoyed traveling with her husband, fishing and playing cards. She was very involved in her grandchildren’s and great grandchildren’s life and never missed an opportunity to be with them. She was very involved and dedicated member of Sunray Baptist Church where she served on the Church Financial Committee. 

Mary is preceded in death by her husband, infant son, parents, her brothers: Fred and Melvin Chandler; sisters: Ava Copeland and Ethel Smith; and a great grandson Conner Mason.

She is survived by her daughter Judy Mason of Sunray, TX; son: Doug Rousser of Lake Texoma, OK; grandchildren: Robby Mason of Sunray, TX, Todd Mason and wife Denise of Canyon, TX and Amber (Mason) Wyndham and husband Grayson of Pueblo West, CO; four great grandchildren: Cole, Kamryn, Lucas and Reese. 

Her memory will serve as a lasting reminder of the care and compassion she shared throughout her life.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Mary’s card playing family Sandra Turner, Sue Perkins, Laverne Thompson and Kim Anderson for their friendship, love and support.

In lieu of customary remembrances, the family suggests with gratitude that memorials be made in Mary’s memory to the Sunray Baptist Church or to your favorite charity.
