Mary Joyce Ward

Mary Joyce Ward, 68 of Sunray, passed away on Saturday, May 28, 2016. Funeral Services are scheduled for 2 o'clock in the afternoon on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at Sunray Baptist Church with Pastor Chauncey Spencer, pastor of First Street Church, officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors. Mary was born on January 17, 1948 in Pampa, TX to Ruben and Olean (Barclay) Thomas. On July 20, 1985, she married the love of her life, Tim Ward in Sunray. Mary was a member of Paramount Baptist Church in Amarillo. She earned a Master's Degree in Education, taught school, and coached for many years. Mary had a special place in her heart for all of her family, friends, and students. Mary had numerous hobbies. She enjoyed quilting, sewing for her grandchildren, crocheting, and tending to her flowers in her garden. She also loved to cook especially for her family. She is preceded in death by her parents. Mary is survived by her husband Tim, of the home, son: Jared Ward and wife Shelly of Dumas; daughters: Jamie Sowers and husband Matt of Melvern, KS and Erin Huckins and husband Mike of Fortuna, CA; sister: Mickey Lackey of Dumas; nieces: Kristina Henderson of Dumas and Lee Ann Lackey of Bedford, TX; and 11 grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, 403 Pear, Dumas, TX 79029.
