Mattie Louetta Stewart

Mattie Louetta Stewart, 91, passed away Monday, January 4, 2010. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, January 7, 2010 at Temple Baptist Church with Rev. Jay McGaughy, pastor of the church officiating. Burial will be in Dumas Cemetery by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mattie Louetta Stewart was born February 9, 1918 in Cumby, Texas to Richard and Minnie Lee. On October 20, 1951 she married Cecil D. Stewart at Vernon, Texas. He preceded her in death on December 8, 1996. She worked at the Dumas High School cafeteria for 28 years before retiring in 1982. She had also worked for M M Drug, the Prairie DriveIn and WalMart. She served on the board at the Senior Citizen Center and was active in the VFW Ladies Auxilary. She also was a member of R.E.A.D. Mattie had been a resident of Dumas since 1952 and was a member of Temple Baptist Church. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Buddy Jack Jameson. Survivors include daughters, Rose Marie Bartruff of Casper, WY and Peggie McLain and husband, Jerry of Dumas sons, Jack Jameson and wife Carolyn and Jim Stewart and wife, Debbie all of Dumas 13 grandchildren, Terry, Danette, Dianne, Kay, Jamie, Kelly, Missy, Tammy, Tina, Tony, Amy, Stephanie, Melissa 26 greatgrandchildren and 6 greatgreatgrandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Memorial Hospice, 224 E. 2nd, Dumas, TX 79029, Memorial Nursing Rehab, 302 E. 2nd, Dumas, TX 79029 or to Meals on Wheels,PO Box 1535, Dumas, TX 79029. The family will be at 101 Carson in Dumas.
