Mertie Taylor

Mertie Taylor, 89, passed away Monday, July, 20, 2009 in Dumas. Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Friday, July 24, 2009 at First Assembly of God with Billy Rammage, pastor of First Baptist Church of Clayton, NM, officiating. Burial will be in Dumas Cemetery. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mertie Taylor was born May 16, 1920 in Sedan, New Mexico to Thomas and Mary Griggs. She attended the Clayton NM schools. On June 12, 1940 she married C.B. Taylor at Clayton, NM. He preceded her in death on May 9, 2007. She loved to crochet and make quilts and her cooking was always perfect. Mertie and C.B. loved to travel and she loved her church family dearly. She had been a resident of Dumas since 1944 and was a member of First Assembly of God Church. She was also preceded in death by seven brothers and six sisters. Survivors include; her daughter, Sharon Thomas of Dumas; granddaughters, Sarah Freeman of Dumas, Laura McDaniel of Sparta, TN; and great-granddaughter, Ella Grace Freeman of Dumas. The family suggests memorials be to OASIS, PO Box 764, Dumas, TX 79029. The family will be at 901 Morton in Dumas.
