Mike Lanning

Mike Lanning, 54, passed away Sunday, October 4, 2009 in Perryton, Texas. Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at Morrison Memorial Chapel with Rev. Joe Stepp, pastor of Southside Baptist Church of Perryton officiating. Burial will be at 2:00 PM in Ochiltree County Cemetery by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mike Lanning was born October 23, 1954 in Vernon, Texas to Nelda and Lecil Lanning. He was raised in Perryton and graduated from Perryton High School in 1973. He began his career as a gauger for Diamond Shamrock in 1982 and was promoted to pipeline supervisor in Perryton and finally to measurement supervisor in Dumas in 2001. He was known as a quiet, gentle man and made many friends over the years. Mike enjoyed the outdoors, his motorcycle, his family and most of all his grandson, Brendan. Survivors include; daughters, Stevie Drennan of Amarillo, Jennie Lanning of the home; his mother, Nelda McLain of Perryton; his father, Lecil Lanning of Canon City, Colo; brother, Jimmy Lanning and wife, Sheila of Stratford; grandson, Brendan Lanning of the home; and three nephews. The family suggests memorials be to Amarillo Oncology, 6611 Amarillo Blvd. West, Amarillo, TX 79106. The family will be at 312 Floyd in Dumas.
