Morris Blackburn Kille, Sr.

Morris Blackburn Kille Sr., 90 of Dumas, passed away on Tuesday, November 22, 2011. Memorial services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, December 3, 2011 at First United Methodist Church in Dumas. Rev. John Sanders, pastor of the church will be officiating. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors. Morris was born on December 2, 1920 in Ashville, North Carolina to James and Mamie Kille. He was united in marriage to Mary Elwood on November 11, 1951 in Kansas City, Missouri. Morris served his country in the Army Air Force, serving during World War II. He graduated from Westminster Choir College in Princeton, New Jersey in 1950. He served in the ministry of music in Methodist churches for 36 years, in Kansas City, MO, Richmond, VA, Maryville, TN, and Pampa, TX. He moved to Dumas in 1977, where he was employed by First United Methodist Church, serving as director of music and education, as well as administrative assistant to the pastor. He was a member of First United Methodist Church. Morris retired in 1986 and went on to work as a locksmith for thirteen years. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Mamie Kille four sisters, Catharine Bagwell, Hilda Willis, Sarah Kille and Charlotte Baldwin and two brothers, John Kille and Kenneth Kille. Morris is survived by his wife, Mary of the home one daughter, Kathy Pence and husband Perry of Amarillo three sons, Steve Kille and wife Yoko of Grand Prairie, James Kille and wife Linda of Dallas, and Dr. Morris B. Kille Jr. and wife Barbara of Springfield, MO one sisterinlaw, Dorothy Kille of Charlotte, NC four grandchildren, and one greatgrandchild.
