Myrtle Marie McDonald, 91, passed away on Wednesday, June 22, 2011. Memorial services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. on Monday, June 27, 2011 at First Presbyterian Church in Dumas. Rev. John Conley, pastor of the church will be officiating. There will be a family visitation at Morrison Funeral Directors in Dumas from 4:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. on Sunday, June 26, 2011. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors.
Myrtle was born on August 3, 1919 in Beaumont, Kansas to Frank and Vadna Woodbeck. She grew up in East Texas and graduated from the University of Texas. On June 11, 1949, she married Archie McDonald and moved to Dumas. He preceded her in death in 1975.
Myrtle taught school in the Dumas Independent School District for over 20 years. Her community involvement included Beta Sigma Phi and BPW. She was one of the first members of First Presbyterian Church of Dumas. In 2001 she moved to Colleyville, Texas and attended First Presbyterian Church, Grapevine, Texas.
Myrtle is survived by one daughter, Carolyn Lyon and husband Jim of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma one son, Frank McDonald and wife Denise of Colleyville, Texas two grandsons, Andrew McDonald of Las Colinas, Texas and Doug McDonald of Colleyville, Texas.
