Nora Reed, 88, of Sunray, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 28, 2017. A Graveside Service is scheduled for 10 o' clock in the morning on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at the Hartley Memorial Cemetery with Keith Hight, officiating. A memorial service will follow that afternoon at 1:30 at United Methodist Church in Sunray with pastor David McGaughy, officiating. The family will receive friends from 7 o'clock to 9 o'clock in the evening on Friday, December 1, 2017 at the funeral home in Dumas. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors.
Nora was born November 20, 1929 to Miles Shafter Sims and Edith Kirkland Sims in Archer City, TX. On August 18, 1946, she married Lester C. Reed in Clayton, New Mexico, and lived in Hartley and Moore counties the rest of her life. Nora was born to serve. Her generosity and good will has affected so many in her lifetime. She will be remembered always as a loving mother and wife, bringing joy and happiness to everyone in her path. She epitomized the American housewife and mother.
Survivors include her four children: Bob and Sharon Reed of Odessa, Ivana and Ray Brooks of Houston, Art and Jan Reed of Stinnett, and Alvin and Cheryl Reed of Ponder; 6 grandchildren: Justin, Paige, Katelin, Abby, Seth, and Anna; and 8 great grandchildren: Ava, Brooklynn, Harper, Hendryx, Avery, Honor, Harlow, and Hazel; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester; sisters: Betty Yeager and Fay Williams; brothers: June Sims, Ray Sims, M B (Brub) Sims, David Sims; and grandson, Richard Renquist.
