Norene McBrayer

Norene McBrayer, 88 formerly of Dumas, passed away Saturday, November 6, 2010 in Bedford, TX. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at Morrison Memorial Chapel with Rev. Jerry Howe, pastor of First Baptist Church in Dumas, officiating. Interment will follow in Northlawn Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors Norene was born on September 18, 1922 in Hopkins County, TX to Curtis and Carrie Mixon. On September 9, 1941, she married J. C. McBrayer in Memphis, TX. He preceded her in death. Norene had been a resident of Dumas since 1941, until recently moving to North Richland Hills, TX to be near her daughter her family. Norene was a homemaker and worked in retail sales. She was a manager of Gibsons Department Store in Dumas for fifteen years. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was a very talented seamstress and quilter. She made clothing for various members of the family and many beautiful quilts. Norene was preceded in death by her husband J.C. one son, Gary McBrayer and two granddaughters, Rhonda and Meghan McBrayer. Survivors include: one daughter, Judy J. Moore of North Richland Hills, TX one son, R. Gayle McBrayer of Miami, NM five grandchildren, eight greatgrandchildren and one great greatgrandchild.
