Norma Bain

On December 25th, 2024, Norma Jean Bain, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, went home to be with her Lord and Savior at the age of 94. 

Norma was born to Ed and Emma Hammer on October 7th, 1930, in Ellinwood KS. She graduated from Sterling Kansas High School in 1948 and graduated from Denver Business School in 1949. Her family moved to Cheyenne Wells, CO where she met the love of her life, Joe Bain. They were married on July 6th, 1950, in Raton, NM only after assuring her dad that she would be back on the harvest truck Monday morning. For 40 years, they raised a family and ran a successful ranch in Franktown, CO and still found time to travel the world. They moved to Dumas, TX in 1990 and after Joe passed in March of 2015, Norma moved to Oklahoma. 

 Norma lived a very full life and wanted to be productive to the very end. She drove a grain truck, milked cows, tended the pigs and chickens, drove a school bus, made all of Linda’s dresses, knitted beautiful sweaters, learned to fly a plane, managed their stock portfolio, taught Sunday School as a member of the Nazarene Church, and was the greatest Prayer Warrior her family could ever ask for. 

Norma is preceded in death by her husband Joe Ray Bain, her parents, 2 brothers and 2 sisters, and daughter-in-law Marcie Bain. She leaves behind 3 children, Don Bain of Pueblo, CO, Linda and Jim White of Union City, OK, and John and Beth Bain of Stuart, OK, 9 grandchildren, and 22 great grandchildren, and a host of friends and family.

 Funeral services will be held at Morrison Memorial Chapel at 2 o’clock in the afternoon on Thursday, January 2, 2025. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Dumas Cemetery under the direction of Beeson Morrison Funeral Directors.
