O.F. Goldsmith of Amarillo, Tx passed away peacefully on June 2, 2024, at the age of 86.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday June 29, 2024, at 11 o'clock in the morning at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church at 555 E. Hastings in Amarillo. Graveside service will be in Dumas Cemetery later that day at 4 o'clock in the afternoon under the direction of Beeson Funeral Directors.
O.F. was born on September 8, 1937, within minutes of his identical twin brother, A.J. in Memphis, Tx to Oliver and Lena Weatherly Goldsmith. He grew up in Parnell, Tx where his family farmed cotton. He attended school in Turkey and Estelline where he graduated from in 1956. He joined the Army in 1962 then returned to Dumas where he met and married the love of his life, Shirley Hughes, on April 9, 1966. O.F. spent most of his working life in the auto parts business including owning/operating Twins Auto Parts alongside A.J. He retired from Moore County Road and Bridge then he and Shirley moved to Amarillo.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his twin brother, A.J. and younger brother, Ronnie. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Shirley Goldsmith, his daughter, Shelly Black and grandson/Best Buddy, Brayden Black of Liberty Hill. One niece, Kim SanMiguel, nephew Lonnie Bohannon and 4 great nephews Brad Preston, Kevin Preston, Chance Bohannon and Chase Bohannon.
In lieu of flowers and if led, the family suggests a donation in memory of O.F. to Pleasant Valley Baptist Church or to the American Heart Association.
