Oscar Wilson

Oscar L. Wilson, 83, of Stratford, passed away on Monday, December 20,2021. Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, December 23,2021 at 2 o'clock in the afternoon at First Baptist Church in Stratford with Rev. Michael Rinne, pastor of the church, officiating. Interment will follow in Stratford Cemetery. A public viewing will be at the church from 10 am until 12 pm on December 23,2021. Arrangements are entrusted with Beeson-Morrison Funeral Directors of Stratford.

Oscar was born December 20,1938 in Knox City, TX to Ernest L and Laura Genevieve (Johnson) Wilson. After graduating from school and going to college, he discovered his real passion was in agriculture. Oscar made Stratford, TX his home since 1966 while he farmed and was a fertilizer salesman. He met the love of his life, Bobbie Burgess, and they were married in Stratford in 1992. She preceded him in death in 2012. Oscar was mostly self-employed throughout his life, but he held a sincere passion for his community and the people. He always saw the best in everyone and was always ready to help when needed. Oscar was very proud of his family and truly enjoyed watching his favorite teams, the Stratford Elks and Lady Elks. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Stratford and will be missed by all who knew him.

Along with his wife Bobbie, Oscar is preceded in death by his parents; Ernest and Genevieve: sister: Kathleen Steffensen; and grandchildren: Joshua R. Powers, Brad Winter and Adam Winter.

He is survived by his children: Angela Winter of Lewisville, TX, Cynthia Powers and husband Billy of Quanah, TX, Sherrie Williams of Sanger, TX, Joe Corbitt and wife Melissa of Sachse, TX, and Cathy Vogler and husband Brian of Vega, TX. Oscar is also survived by numerous extended family and friends as well as nieces and nephews, 10 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
