Pat McDowell

Pat McDowell, 87, of Dumas, passed away on Thursday, June 29, 2017. Funeral Services are scheduled for 11 o'clock in the morning on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at First United Methodist Church in Dumas with Deacon Wayne Norrell, officiating. Interment will follow at 3 o'clock in the afternoon at Llano Cemetery in Amarillo. The family will receive friends from 6 pm to 7pm on Friday at the funeral home. Arrangements are entrusted to Morrison Funeral Directors of Dumas. Pat was born on March 18, 1930, in Amarillo to Carl and Lucile McDowell of Sunray. Growing up, he worked on the family farm and ranch with his mother and father. He attended High School at Price College in Amarillo and graduated in 1947. He married Arline Baltzell on October 29, 1949. They made their home in Dumas where Pat was involved in the family farming and ranching operations in eastern Moore County until his death. Pat also had an active involvement and avid love for horses throughout his life. He is preceded in death by his grandparents: Oscar and Emma McDowell; his parents: Carl and Lucile McDowell; and his wife: Arline. Pat is survived by his children: Mike and Susan McDowell of Stinnett, Mary Lynn and Mike Garth of Dumas, and Dan and Kathy McDowell of Sunray; and his longtime companion, Marty Franks of Dumas; grandchildren: Jake McDowell and Roy Haire, Micah and Shannon Anderton, Toad and Sheryl Garth, Stacy and Mike Roberts, Cody and Ezzy McDowell, and Casey McDowell; his great-grandchildren: Berkli, Slate, Lashayla, and Savana Anderton, Jaycee, Jordan, and Judd Garth, Savanna Roberts and Zane Hamby, Devin Roberts, Nikki Roberts and Will Van Schalkwya, Emily and Ty McDowell, and Maggie and Colt McDowell; his great-great-grandchildren; Skeeter Cathy, Kaebren Roberts, and Mia Van Schalkwya; nieces: Portia Maloney and Patricia Braafladt. He is also survived by other family members and many dear friends. The family suggests memorials be to Memorial Hospice, 224 E. Second St, Dumas, TX 79029 or to a favorite charity.
