Patricia Fern Crossland Schmidt passed away Wednesday, January 27, 2010 in Dumas. Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday, January 30 at First Street Church of Christ with Rev. Mark Wallis, pastor of Life Tabernacle officiating. Burial will be in Dumas Cemetery by Morrison Funeral Directors.
Patricia Fern Crossland was born October 17, 1932 in Plainview, Texas to Gene and Sara Crossland. On June 16, 1977 she married Barney Schmidt, Jr. in Clayton, New Mexico. He preceded her in death in 1992. They made their home in Dumas and enjoyed breeding and raising miniature horses. She had worked at First National Bank, Schmidt Excavating and the Markae Ladies Clothing Store. Her spare time was committted to her family. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who relished her role as Nannie to her grandchildren. Patricias legacy is her faith in God and her faithfulness to her husband and children. She had been a resident of Dumas since 1960 and was a member of First Street Church of Christ.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, brother, Robbie Crossland, nephew, Clint Crossland and soninlaw, Bill Babcock.
Survivors include her children Candice Toliver Babcock of Amarillo, Debby Toliver Cotter and husband, Gary of Arlington, Bill Buster Toliver and wife, Jana of Amarillo, Pam Toliver Cox and husband, Larry of Dumas, David Schmidt of Boise, Idaho, Mart Rutter and husband, Jim of Albuquerque,NM, Lynn Schmidt and wife, Karla of Lubbock 12 grandchildren, Greg, Brandon and Jeff Cox, Stephanie Toliver Brice, Krista and Tiffany Schmidt, Morgan Cotter, Alissa Bickett, Angie Farnworth, Staci and Leslie Schmidt, Connor Shaughnessy 16 greatgrandchildren and her dear friend of over 60 years, Winnie Jones of Dumas.
The family suggest memorials be made to Memorial Nursing and Rehabilitation, Activity Fund, 302 E. 2nd, Dumas, TX 79029.
The family will be at 629 Bailey in Dumas.
