Paul Blackburn, 76, passed away Sunday, May 10, 2009 in Dalhart. Vigil service will be at 7:00 PM, Tuesday, May 12, 2009 at St. Anthonys Catholic Church with Deacon Ron Hein. Memorial Mass will be at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, May 13, 2009 with Fr. Scot Raef officiating. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery with flag detail by American Legion Post 224 of Dumas. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors.
Paul Blackburn was born June 17, 1932 at Ft. Hayes hospital in Columbus, Ohio to Buck Sgt. Bud and Mildred Blackburn. On June 6, 1964 he married Jeanne Dilworth in Amarillo, Texas. He served in the US Army during the Korean conflict, 1948 to 1952. He then served 18 months in the Marine Corps Reserve. His name is on the Veterans Wall and in the Veterans Honor Walk at Las Cruces, NM, where he enlisted.
Paul spent 35 years in retail store management. He was the founder, owner and president of S n B Furniture Appliances. These 10 stores were located in Florida and Georgia. He loved to travel and he and his wife made many trips after their retirement. He loved music of all types, loved to dance and enjoyed many plays at the Amarillo Little Theater. Paul had been a resident of Dalhart since 1992 and was a member of St. Anthonys Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 4 brothers.
Survivors include; his wife Jeanne; son Danny Blackburn of Birmingham, AL; daughter, Dorothy Kinn of Ball Ground, GA; sister, Rita Logan of Dallas; grandsons, Johnathon Blackburn of Tallahassee, FL. and Anthony Blackburn of Omaha, Neb.
The family suggests memorials be to S.A.I.N.T.S. Trust, St. Anthonys School, 1302 Oak Ave, Dalhart, TX 79022 or Coon Memorial Hospice, 320 Texas Blvd., Dalhart, TX 79022.
The family will be at 1011 Rock Island Ave. in Dalhart.
