Paula Burton Jones, 68, of Dumas passed away early on Thursday, October 29. A private graveside service will be held. Arrangements are entrusted to Beeson-Morrison Funeral Directors. Paula was born September 1, 1952 in Dumas, TX to Robert Eugene and Billye June (Vails) Burton. She spent her life caring for people as an LVN nurse. Paula helped establish the Sunray clinic and worked for many years at the WIC office. She was one of the most caring and giving individuals and her legacy will be to all that she has assisted over the years in the clinic and at WIC. Paula loved to cook and took culinary classes, but it seemed her favorite was Mexican food, but she was willing to try any new recipe. She never met a stranger and would go out of her way to make you feel welcome, you were always a part of her friend circle. Paula adored her family, especially her nieces and nephews. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Dumas and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Paula was preceded in death by her parents, and a nephew BJay Burton. She is survived by her sister: Zelda Lackey and husband Jody of Pensacola, FL; brothers: Paul Burton of Montgomery, AL and Gil Burton of Sunray, TX; son: William Jones of Lubbock, TX; sister by choice; Bonnie Arbuthnot of Dumas, TX; nieces and nephews: Robert Lackey, Mark Lackey, and Teri Lackey all of Pensacola, FL, Michelle Burton and Melinda Burton both of Amarillo, TX, Marcus Burton of Montgomery, AL, Brandi Burton of Billingsley, AL, Amy Burton of Sunray, TX; as well as numerous great nieces and nephews.
